How much was bad — and whose fault?
A check with its own number, defects from a named list, and the cost in rupees.
The Tuesday it gets opened
Fifty plates arrive and eight are rusted. Two hundred come back from plating and five are spoiled. Whose fault — the supplier, the plater, or our own press?
The old way, stated fairly
"Damage" in a stock adjustment, or a word in a notes field. It says where the money went and nothing else — the supplier conversation happens from memory.
How it earns its place
The good ones are not typed
Record only what was wrong — the rest count themselves. Nobody does arithmetic in a hurry.
Bad stock goes to a place, not a status
Quarantine is a real shelf. Everything on it stops being sellable the instant it lands — no picker offers it.
The report is in rupees, on purpose
Metres, cones and castings can’t be added. "Quality cost us ₹74,000 this quarter" — cut by who is answerable.
Fifty plates arrive; eight are rusted. Record 8 rejected — "rust", pointing at the supplier. The eight sit in quarantine at ₹400; the 42 good ones were never typed.
What it refuses, and why
Software that explains its “no” is software an owner can trust.
A verdict that doesn’t account for every unit
What was checked must equal what was decided about.
A bad unit with no named defect
Where the money went has one answer. What went wrong has ten — and the report is cut by exactly that.
Selling from the quarantine shelf
No picker in the app offers it. A rejected part cannot quietly reach a customer.
