Does the screen match the shelf?
Nothing here is typed in. Stock moves when goods move.
The Tuesday it gets opened
A customer on the phone, asking. Before promising a delivery. Before ordering — do we already have it? The monthly count.
The old way, stated fairly
A stock register that was true last Tuesday, an Excel two people edited at once — and a yearly shock at count time, with no way to say where the difference went.
How it earns its place
Quantity is a ledger, not a field
There is no way to type over a stock figure — for anyone. Every number is the sum of movements, each naming the document that caused it.
Per godown, and honest
Levels shown godown by godown — even below zero, in red, because hiding a negative is how it stays wrong.
The correction is itself a record
Adjust with a reason — damage, loss, theft, expiry, miscount — and it lands in the books with a name and a date on it.
The screen says 960 kg of MS Plate; the shelf says 940. Adjust −20 kg, reason "damage". The screen matches the shelf, the loss shows in the day book — and at year end, "what did damage cost us?" has an answer.
What it refuses, and why
Software that explains its “no” is software an owner can trust.
Typing over a stock figure
If a number looks wrong, its history shows every in and out that made it. The fix is a correction with a reason — never an edit.
Selling from the quarantine shelf
Stock held in quarantine or at a job worker is yours and is counted — but never offered for sale or issue. A rejected batch cannot reach a customer by mistake.
Connected on the thread
Nothing here stands alone — the same entry feeds these too.

Bring the Excel you already keep — the import wizard reads it as it is.
